Rome
We spent a lot of our time in Italy trying pizza and gelato, so much of this page is about where to eat.
The tour worth booking
The best tour we did in Rome was the Pristine Sistine tour from Walks of Italy. It gets you into the Sistine Chapel early, before the crowds.
Eat and drink
Pizza
The best pizza we found was a local chain, Alice Pizza.
Dinner and dessert
We went to Cantina e Cucina for dinner one night (Via del Governo Vecchio 87). If you are more than two people, expect a long wait; we waited over an hour.
Right next to it is a dessert shop called Two Sizes. It is amazing. You could even grab dessert first if the line for Cantina e Cucina is long.
Gelato
We liked Giolitti and Grom, which is a chain. Locals will tell you that if you see mounds of gelato, it is not the real thing. Grom keeps theirs in covered containers, and locals prefer that kind. The two shops are right next to each other, so you might have to try both.
